The session on Java was a much expected one after the previous session on "Introduction to Netbeans". Of course, "Java", is already a big name in the minds of a lot many and many actually wanted to try out their hands on it. On what could be a better opportunity that this one !!
More importantly, rather than teaching Java from scratch which is almost impractical to be done in one session, this tech demo aimed at delivering the basics of Java to everyone and giving them deadlines so that they could themselves explore the other features provided by the language. Every now and then, some basic questions based on whatever had been covered till that time were asked and the correct answer was rewarded with goodies!! This really helped in making the session a lot more interactive and attractive as well. Information was also provided on what is going on presently in the technology and the current scenarios.
Apart from giving them links to useful Java websites like http://java2s.com/ , http://osum.sun.com/group/codesamples , http://osum.sun.com/group/javacard, http://osum.sun.com/group/suncertified, http://osum.sun.com/group/javafx etc., a more interesting part of the talk was the details about the SCJP examination which were provided. Everyone wants to stand out of the crowd and what could be a better way than getting SUN Certified :) And that too, when we and the entire OSUM community is here to guide you!! The 85% discount on SUN certifications provided under Sun Academic Initiative just added cheers to environment. There couldn't have been a better opportunity for you to make a difference.
This was followed by some questions from the audience at the end of the session. After that, the contact details were provided so that they could contact us anytime with any relevant queries that they might be having or any help that they might require from our side.
That was it !! We will be coming up with our next planned tech demo soon. Do check it out!!
