One of the coolest activities that an osum leader can do, is executing tech demos at campus. But also, this can help you leverage your career. Nowadays, big companies are looking not only for best developers or sysadmin, but also people that can lead others, and share knowledge with the rest of a team, showing great pro activity and team work skills. For all this, you can try giving a TECH DEMO!!!

A tech demo is not a big deal, so don't be afraid if you are newbie. We have plenty of resources to support you. And you don't have to be an expert developer to do it. Just take some time to train you in some "introductory" tech demos.

Here I share with you some resources to support you on your first NetBeans tech demo. We are encouraging Osum Leaders from all over the world to execute their first NetBeans tech demo this month. We are having weekly webinars to train you, so check events section to join them

1. Read Blog from Gary as an introduction to osum leaders: http://osum.sun.com/profiles/blogs/demonstrate-your-skills-by?xgs=1
2. Here you have a step by step guide for organizing and executing NetBeans tech demo. Here you will find official slides, talking points and demo script's instruction http://osumprojects.com/ar.pl?action=View&ID=48 (intro to NetBeans - 90 minutes) (check Gary's blog for versions in Spanish and Chinese)
3. Check webinar: "NetBeans 6.7 - The Only IDE You Need!" in http://osum.sun.com/notes/OSUM_Webinar_Replays (English, Spanish and Chinese versions available) in order to see slides and demo scripts in action (also to anticipate future inquiries from audience)
4. To get a deep Knowledge of NetBeans, OL should access to the NetBeans learning path: http://osum.sun.com/notes/Learn_Java%2C_NetBeans%2C_OpenSolaris_%26_More!#NetBeans
5. Also, always is good to check info about SAI and certifications vouchers to promote it in OSUM and OSUM's tech demos (frequently asked questiong by audience: http://osum.sun.com/notes/Get_Trained_-_Get_Certified)

VERY IMPORTANT, when you feel confident to execute the tech demo, please tag your NetBeans tech demos as "NetBeans09"

Also, in case you are executing a tech demo for the first time, you can check this 2 projects in order to include OSUM and SAI presentations

http://osumprojects.com/ar.pl?action=View&ID=36 (intro to osum - 30 minutes)

http://osumprojects.com/ar.pl?action=View&ID=41 (intro to Sai - 30 minutes)

Feel free to order your netbeans activity kit at sunwear.sun.com/osum (but do it with at least 3 weeks in advance)

We are here to support you, so if you are an osum leader and you have any doubts or questions, please, use http://osum.sun.com/group/osumclubleaders to get help from the community

regards
Eze

Have ordered the kit as well.
