I installed OpenSolaris today as a VirtualBox client following the instructions given in [1]. I am primarily a Linux guy so I don't really know what to expect from OpenSolaris. Michal Rozek Sharing the Windows XP (hosted on the VirtualBox 2.1) files with OpenSolaris 2008.11

The main issue in this problem is not the file sharing configuration :) It is the VirtualBox network configuration. By default VirtualBox is having its networking configured as NAT. The NAT interfaces use DHCP. This works fine, I have an internet connection and I can ping my OpenSolaris system. Piece of cake.
