Answer: Check out this Forum Post for a good summary of how to get the most from the OSUM Community.

Question:  I want to change my image and there is an option to use existing image, but how to chose my existing image?

Question:  Every time i want to edit my profile, the Select your University/School field is reset back but i can't chose anything because there is nothing to select, so i can't save my new profile because the application warning me to input that field

Question:  I clicked on a link for another page in the OSUM Community but the link doesn't work.

Answer: The probable reason for this is that the pages you can access in OSUM are determined by the country and school that you select. If you select a particular country for the pull-down menu at the top of the page, you will only be able to see pages from that country.

Question: I forgot my password. Is it possible to retrieve it?

Answer:  Any user can retrieve their password if they know the email address for the profile. They click the "Forgot Password" link on the login page.

Question:  I have multiple OSUM accounts but am only using one. Is it possible to delete my inactive account?

Answer:  To delete a particular OSUM account, login as that user then click "My Settings", then "Delete my profile".

Question: My university is not listed in the drop-down menu. Is it possible to add my university to the drop-down menu?

Answer:  First you should check to see if someone else has already created an OSUM Club at your university. You can search by selecting your country from the pull-down menu, then using the search field to locate your university.

If no one else has started an OSUM Club at your university, we encourage to do so. If you are willing to start an OSUM Club, go ahead and create a "Group". Just click on "Groups" from the main tab bar, then click on "Add A Group". Once you've created your group you can invite your friends to join.

You can also take advantage of additional support from Sun by registering your OSUM Club as an OSUM Affiliate. If you choose do register as an OSUM Affiliate, we will add your university to the pull down list. Click here to register as an OSUM Affiliate. We add schools to the drop down menu based on participation in the OSUM Affiliate Program. You can register your university for the OSUM Affiliate Program at: http://developers.sun.com/students/osum/index.jsp

Question: Why is the image I uploaded for my Group truncated, out of proportion or not clear?

Answer:  If you want your group image to keep its proportions and not look fuzzy (pixelated) once you upload it, make sure to upload a square image that is at least 171 pixels x 171 pixels in size.

Question:  Currently only invited students can join my group. But I saw some groups which allowed anyone to join. How can I give the same settings to my group? I tried out the manage group option but there was not an option for changing my group's privacy settings.

Answer:  Unfortunately, the privacy settings of a group cannot be changed. The only way to change the settings is to delete the group, create a new group and reinvite everyone to join again. This is an unfortunate limitation of the Ning platform upon which the OSUM Community is built. We apologize for this limitation.

Question:  Is Google Chrome supported?

Answer:  Because Google Chrome is still in a beta version, it is not yet fully supporting by Ning, the platform upon which OSUM is built. However the following browsers are supported so students have plenty of options: Firefox 2 or 3; Internet Explorer 6 or 7; and Safari 3.
