Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a global celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) scheduled for Sept 19, 2009. This group is especially for organizers of SFD events to provide you with the information and resources to support your events.

Welcome to the SFD 2009!!!
This group is here to give you more information as to all the great events that Sun Campus Ambassadors and OSUM members will be doing to help celebrate SFD 09 alongside Sun. Please use this page as a resource guide to learn more about SFD, find the toolkit, connect with others, and share your stories.
Here are some additional details and getting started tips:
- Check the official Software Freedom Day website to see if any events are already taking place near you. If there is one, please invite your OSUM Club to join that organization/event and participate alongside them
- If there isn't an event close by you, we encourage organize a SFD event (details below)
- Set the date for your SFD event, reserve a venue and post your event to the OSUM Events Calendar - make sure to tag your event as "sfd2009" in the "Event Type" field. (This part is extremely important)
SFD2009 Kits Order Deadline Has Passed
Thanks to everyone who planned your events and ordered your SFD Kits before the Aug 31 deadline. The kits are being shipped in batches and we expect that they will all arrive prior to Sept 19. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any late orders. If you have any questions concerning the delivery of your SFD Kits, please post your questions to you should write to contact_osum(at)sun(dot)com.

On October 28 took place the second edition of "Software Freedom Day Evolution codenamed! on par with the celebration of the Engineer in Telematics. With a series of discussions of various kinds the event brought together several students, teachers, researchers, etc. in various areas and institutions seeking to learn a little more of the free use new technologies as well as telecommunications and computer development. At the conclusion of the celebration, attendees were able to participate in a small tournament Play Station 3 which was no doubt what I enjoy the students and the odd teacher =)! Surely I must say that the second edition will take all the palms, it is clear the wide acceptance of such events. And so we close this episode and hope the third major edits without doubt more will come loaded with surprises.
