Tanya:
1. Apa sih yang menyebabkan zfs dikatakan filesystem yang cepat?
2. Apa itu zpools?
3. Apa keterbatasan dari zfs ? Apakah sama dengan yang dikatakan oleh wikipedia (Nobody perfect tho..hehehe)
4. Di wikipedia dijelasin tentang Copy-on-write transactional model, itu apa sih mas? Soalnya waktu masih kuliah Sistem Berkas, konsep model seperti itu belum ada (Atau saya yang ga'dengerin dosen yach?)
5. Dikatakan mysql, oracle dapat bekerja lebih baik dengan zfs, apa gara2nya karena zfs 128 bit? Atau ada penyebabnya yang lain?

Ehehehe.. maaph salah tempat.. :D

OK. berarti kamu pengen demo. ada 2 cara:
1. langsung (ini lebih disarankan)
kalo ini, mending datang aja ke meeting OSUG. tanya para expert disana. daripada mupeng doang.
btw, kliatannya agus setiawan dah bisa tu. hehehe
2. tidak langsung
bisa lihat demonya di www.sun.com, youtube juga ada. daripada cuman download pilem toh?

saran, biar geleng2nya lebih ngajub-ajub, belajar dulu buat raid, LVM, di LINUX.
(mdadm, lvm, pv.., vg..., lv..., dll), bukan ada maksud apa2, biar lebih keliahatan bedanya aja.
Setelah itu, baru liat demonya langsung. Dijamin bakal mak nyussss!!!
hehehe...

saya dulu sering konfigurasi RAID & LVM di LINUX. terus belajar ZFS (via internet, youtube, www.sun.com), dari sini sudah ngerasa amazing!!. setelah itu baru ikutan liat demo langsungnya.
hasilnya.. mak nyuusss banget!!

kalo pusing dengan english, kan ada google translator toh?

mencoba mengulang yang udah diajarkan oleh Mas Achmad :

ni mesinnya pke virtual, lanjutan dari forum Solaris 10 di VMware, daripada ntar bingung mendingan baca

1) buat pool-nya dulu, yg mau aku jadiin poolnya ada 2 hdd

2) kasusnya mau buat mirror-nya dulu

bash-3.00# zpool create testpool mirror c0d1 c1d1
bash-3.00# zpool list

klo ga ngerti mirror apaan..search dulu di wikipedia

3) list devices

4) command buat create zfs-nya

bash-3.00# zfs create testpool/home

ZFS sebagai solusi, ZFS sebagai alternatif pilihan FS.
gampang toh?

kalo bisa mudah, kenapa dibuat sulit? emang birokrat?

Ok, mas, Saya mo bandingin antara ZFS ma native file system kayata: ext3 atau ntfs pada RAID 1. Eh, mas perlu pake acara ngrusak harddisk ga? Dipukul pake palu, hehehehe :D
